Thoughts about Innovation
Fuel for Innovation
I work at an amazing place filled with amazing people. Its not perfect of course but neither am I. One of my coworkers has told me since I started at Bayside that it is a place of Grace. The more I’m there the more I see this and really appreciate it.
A place of Grace is perfect for inspiring innovation and creativity. It enables the analyst in all of us to take a back seat for a sec while the dreamer in us processes freely. It appears to me that Grace promotes freedom and freedom can nurture innovation. So church could/should be a hotbed for fresh ideas and innovation.
Champions
You need champions for innovation. Agents of change. They challenge well intended staff members and organizations to not squander their graceful environments by always “playing it safe”. It’s possible to be in a situation where everyone is very nice and great to work with but nothing is happening. No fresh ideas, no new task to take on or passion to try and improve upon a design. Champions carefully challenge this. I have a boss like this. His passion for excellence makes me and our whole crew better people because of this attitude.
